I was registered with a NHS dentist quite a while ago, I then moved but then did not get my 6 monthly appointment only to find that my dentist had shut down, no notice was even given to me.
with this I managed the best I could but then started having problems with a dead tooth which got badly infected and was then taken out via emergency hospital dentists.
I asked to be placed on the NHS dentists waiting lists only to be told that it could take a year to even get on a list for my area, the worst thing is that I am between 2 areas and there are only 3 NHS dentists to cover literally thousands of patients, will I get a NHS dentist guess it could be very hit and miss.
I have taken the option to go private and with this was told about Simply Health and they do various dental plan levels, I took one out and it only costs just over £8.00 a month which covers more or less everything.
I have been told to make sure that the new dentists don't start adding extras, NHS hospital did a check up for me so watch this space when I go to the new private dentists.
If you are having issues with dental NHS waiting lists and are stuck without dentists then I would like to hear from you and what your experiences have been. Have you been forced to do DIY?

NHS dentists waiting lists problems
Re: NHS dentists waiting lists problems
mikey if you do somehow get on a nhs waiting list and have to pay you will find it a lot cheaper then paying private private.
even with a plan you may have some to pay towards with the private part, nhs you will find at half costs.
year is a hell of a time to wait.
