More than one in 10 of England's wildlife sites 'lost since 2009'
Wildlife Trusts says monitoring of ancient woodlands, hedgerows and churchyards shows 717 have been lost or damaged between 2009 and 2013

Some of the wildlife seems to thriving around here to the point of being a pest. Foxes for example have invaded inner city areas, grey squirrels (famously described as rats with furry tails by a past London Mayor) have spread squirrel pox to the British red squirrel, killing most of them off in the south, although I believe they are now staging a come back. Then there are other vermin such as rats which most people would rather not have living within their homes.
